I’m Jordann, I’m starting this personal finance blog because there was a bit of a miscommunication when I was growing up. It was inferred to me by most people around me that, if I got good grades, and went to a good university, I would get a killer job right out of university. I would then be able to do basically whatever I wanted, travel, buy nice clothes, get married, and live “the life”.
Guess what? That’s not entirely true. (Shocking, I know) I got good grades, went to a good university, accumulated a mountain of student debt, and got a good job right out of university. Now I’m living this alternate lifestyle, one that is very different from the one I outlined above. In my alternate life, there are no nice clothes, there is a lot less travel, and a whole lot of debt staring me in the face and costing me as much in interest as an expensive alcohol habit.
The lifestyle I mentioned above, is out of stock for me, it’s simply not in the cards right now. I’m lucky enough that I’m not going to do what most North Americans do and buy that lifestyle on credit, but not quite lucky enough to be able to attain it. Instead I’m living my alternate life, one centered around getting out of debt, and enjoying cheap beer and good company.
